It’s that time of the year again! School starts Aug. 12 in Palm Beach County, Aug 14 in Broward County and Aug. 19 in Miami-Dade County. Now is the time for parents to start to prepare their kids for a successful first day! Back to School Shopping

Sales tax holiday for clothing, personal computers, and school supplies: Florida lawmakers have created two sales tax holidays per year. During these tax holidays consumer can purchase certain categories of goods from participating retailers without having to pay the state’s sales tax. Take advantage of these savings and plan your back to school shopping around this tax holiday.

The following items will be exempt from Florida sales tax from 12:01 a.m. on August 2, 2019, through 11:59 p.m. on August 4, 2019:

• Clothing, wallets, or bags, including diaper bags, backpacks, fanny packs, and handbags (but excluding briefcases, suitcases, and other garment bags) with a sales price of $60 or less
• The first $1,000 of the sales price of personal computers or personal computer-related accessories purchased for noncommercial home or personal use
• School supplies with a sales price of $15 or less
